HWARANG: The Beginning

The drama tells the story of the Hwarang (literally 'Flower Knights'), an elite group of young people living under the Silla Kingdom. It represents the passion, the love and the brilliant history of the Hwarang, who were strutting in Seorabeol, the capital of the Silla dynasty, 1,500 years ago.

• Sun Woo is the legendary Hwarang "Bird Dog", as he lives his life without remorse as a dog and is free like a bird. After knowing Ah Ro, a desire is born in him to protect her and she reveals his masculine side.
• Sam Maek Jong or King Jinheung, is a king who wants to make himself known to the world. He is very sensitive and irritable, because he is usually away from people and in solitude, but gradually becomes a safe king, after meeting Ah Ro.
• Soo Ho is known for being a casanova, but he is actually a romantic guy who passionately loves a woman. He is in constant rivalry with Ban Ryoo.
• Ban Ryoo is a cold-blooded hwarang who received political education and was forced to crave power as a child. With good looks, excellent intellect and strong competitiveness, it's anything but cold when it comes to love.
• Yeo Wool, a mysterious but twisted character with an unexpected dirty mouth.
• Han Sung, the youngest of the hwarang who is clear and warm as the sunlight, also very pure and innocent and shows his immaturity and youth easily, but inside there is a little sadness.
• Ah Ro, born of parents of different social classes. Although her condition is that of a plebeian, her attitude is as safe and dignified as any noble.
